Poisedale was founded in 1990 and remains on the same site today. The founders brought together joinery and cabinet making skills in a small company that specialised from the start in high quality bespoke furniture.
Where are we?
We are based in the small village of Hinton St. Mary in the North Dorset countryside. Our premises are the old estate yard of the nearby medieval manor house. The village has a post office, garage and the White Hart pub (where we can be often found on a sunny lunchtime).
Hinton St Mary is right in the heart of the Dorset dairy farming community but despite its idyllic location we have good access to Bath, Bristol, Birmingham or London. We also have the channel ports of Poole and Weymouth just a few miles to the South of us.
Who are we?
Andy is the general manager of Poisedale and been at the company since its foundation.
Alan is a cabinet maker and in his spare time looks after the ground handling for Tiger Moth bi-plane based at Compton airfield.
Paul is our spray shop manager and Arsenal supporter. He is an expert at finishing but can also turn his hand to a bit of cabinet making.
Mike is a sprayer and finisher. In his spare time Mike sings in a band.
Roger is a cabinet maker originally from Guernsey where he used to make grandfather clocks.
Stephen is a cabinet maker with over forty years in the trade. In his spare time he makes radio controlled model boats.
Duncan is a cabinet maker, keen fisherman and qualified drummer.
Rob is a trainee who has joined us straight from school.
Colin is our general maintenance guy. Colin has until recently been living in rural France.
Dean is our Workshop Assistant, a role than involves everything from keeping the place clean and tidy to delivering work to sites.
Shaun is our trainee project manager who joined us from another cabinet making firm. Shaun is our computer aided design specialist and in his spare time plays rugby for North Dorset Rugby Club.
Steph runs the office side of the business and is the one you are most likely to speak to if you call us. Steph lives just up the road in Marnhull.
Ben is the owner of the business. He is following in a family tradition of running cabinet making and joinery businesses although until a couple of years ago Ben worked in the less tangible world of corporate finance.
Louis is our adopted Poisedale dog, a grey Weimaraner. He spends most of his days in the yard at Poisedale.
