About Us

Poisedale was founded in 1990 and remains on the same site today. The founders brought together joinery and cabinet making skills in a small company that specialised from the start in high quality bespoke furniture.

Where are we?

We are based in the small village of Hinton St. Mary in the North Dorset countryside. Our premises are the old estate yard of the nearby medieval manor house. The village has a post office, garage and the White Hart pub (where we can be often found on a sunny lunchtime).

Hinton St Mary is right in the heart of the Dorset dairy farming community but despite its idyllic location we have good access to Bath, Bristol, Birmingham or London. We also have the channel ports of Poole and Weymouth just a few miles to the South of us.

Who are we?

AndyAndy has worked in Poisedale since it started. A cabinet maker by trade, Andy is now the general manager.

TonyTony is a cabinet maker who can also do the odd bit of joinery. He has made all manner of weird and wonderful furniture over the years. He likes taking old furniture apart to see how it was made (he does usually put it back together).

MarkMark is a joiner with 26 years in the trade.  Mark is also a level two qualified FA coach.

AlanAlan is a cabinet maker. In Alan’s spare time he looks after the ground handling for a Tiger Moth bi-plane based at Compton.

PaulPaul runs our spray shop. He is an expert at getting a flawless finish and when he’s not spraying or polishing he can also turn his hand to the odd bit of cabinet making.

MikeMike is our youngest member of staff. Mike has recently completed his training and is now a fully qualified sprayer and finisher.

RogerRoger is a cabinet maker from Guernsey where he used to make grandfather clocks. He joined Poisedale in 2007 when he moved over to Dorset.

StephSteph runs the office side of the business and is the one you are most likely to speak to if you call us. Steph lives just up the road in Marnhull.

BenBen is the owner of the business. He is following in a family tradition of running cabinet making and joinery businesses although until a couple of years ago Ben worked in the less tangible world of corporate finance.

BarneyBarney is Andy’s grey Weimaraner and is the adopted Poisedale dog as he spends most of his days in the yard.
