Our environmental and social policy
We believe strongly that our business should benefit the local community and environment.
Our plans for the coming year include completing a detailed environmental audit of the business to try and measure and reduce our environmental impact including our carbon footprint. For example, we are already taking measures to reduce the wastage and environmental impact in our spray shop by using low pressure systems and improved extraction systems.
We source as much as possible from the local community and always try and buy timber from sustainable sources. We hope to gain Forest Stewardship Council accreditation in the next year.
In the longer term we want to design a business that is, as far as possible, completely sustainable and carbon neutral.
Health & Safety
Although health and safety is often much maligned we are strong believers that our work environment should be as risk free as possible. Woodworking is an inherently risky occupation but with thorough training and controls we aim to reduce that risk as far as possible. We commission audits every year to review our progress in this area.
Our community
We are a key employer in our local community. With that comes a responsibility to support our local community. We do this by sourcing as much as we can locally and by supporting local charities and societies.
